In the 15th century, Ahmed Bin Majid — a prolific navigator, scholar, and poet — walked the shores of Ras Al Khaimah. From his very first voyage as a teenager, Bin Majid carried a fascination for the seas and an appetite for adventure. Through his many expeditions, he came to be known as “The Lion of the Sea,” quickly becoming one of the most experienced navigators of the Arab world, China Seas, and East Africa. Documented in his own writings, through his inventions, and by fabled tales carried down from generation to generation — Bin Majid also grew to be a poet, an inventor, and a scholar. By the time he last walked these shores, he was widely respected by sailors both in the region and around the world. Centuries later in the 1987, we sought to bring his ethos of adventure and love for the ocean back to Ras Al Khaimah through hospitality.
